GENERAL INFORMATION

Where are classes held?

All classes are held on the property of the Florida Maritime Museum unless otherwise specified. Classes are currently being held outdoors on the Bratton Store porch and in our shaded picnic table area due to indoor space limitations due to FMM's current building habilitation.

The Florida Maritime Museum is located in the historic Cortez Fishing Village. Regular and accessible parking is available for free on site. Click here for directions.

Are the material and supply fees included in the cost?

Yes! The amount you see on the website is the full amount you will be paying for a class, which includes instruction, necessary supplies, and any materials needed to complete the course. Your ticket price reflects the cost of class materials, instructors, and keeping the Folk School open for all. Any additional and optional supplies, such a notebook for taking personal notes, are listed in the “About the event” section of the class listing and vary depending on the class.

Are there age requirements?

Our classes are generally designed for students 18 years or older. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis. More descriptions about age limitations can be found at the end of the class description for each individual class. Call the Florida Maritime Museum with specific questions at 941-708-6120 or email us at fmminfo@manateeclerk.com.

I have mobility issues or restrictions; will I still be able to attend?

Of course! The Bratton Store porch is accessible by ramp, and we have ADA compliant picnic tables accessible by paved pathways. Our museum is also accessible by ramp if you would like to visit before or after a class. If you have mobility concerns or other questions and would like to discuss class details, please contact us at 941-708-6120 or fmminfo@manateeclerk.com.

Can I sign my group up for a private class?
